If your early years were marked by memories of playing with iconic toys from Mattel, such as Barbies or Hot Wheels, then you might find the upcoming amusement park in Glendale, Arizona quite appealing.
Scheduled to launch next year, the very first Mattel-themed park, named the “Mattel Adventure Park,” will be a part of the expansive VAI Resort, touted as Arizona’s largest resort.
The Mattel Adventure Park is all set to offer an array of attractions and experiences. For instance, visitors can enjoy The Barbie Beach House, a spot where they can savor a “signature pink beverage on the third-story rooftop,” as described on the amusement park’s official website.
Among the other notable features are a duo of Hot Wheels roller coasters and an indoor Thomas & Friends theme park, showcasing the very first life-sized electric passenger train of Thomas the Tank Engine and more.
According to Julie Freeman, the Senior Director of Global Location-Based Entertainment for Mattel, “At Mattel, we are the stewards of some of the world’s most iconic franchises that span generations. We’re excited to provide fresh and immersive avenues for families to engage with timeless brands like Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends, and more.”
Additionally, the Mattel Adventure Park will present an immersive nine-hole mini-golf encounter. Enthusiasts will also be pleased to find renowned Mattel board games like Pictionary and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots integrated into the course.
Moreover, the park will incorporate the legendary Castle Grayskull from Masters of the Universe, which will house an advanced laser tag arena. Fans will have the opportunity to “wield the power” and fight for Eternia.
Catering to fans of Masters of the Universe, the inaugural Mattel-themed park will introduce a life-sized Castle Grayskull, boasting a cutting-edge laser tag arena, as confirmed by representatives from Mattel.
For those interested in the construction progress, the theme park’s website offers a “Construction Cam” that allows fans to monitor the ongoing development.
Originally set to open its doors in 2023, the Mattel Adventure Park’s launch has been postponed due to some delays. As of now, the grand opening is scheduled for 2024.
