According to reputable basketball reporter Shams Charania from The Athletic, the Phoenix Suns have successfully secured the services of guard Eric Gordon, adding a valuable piece to their backcourt. While specific details regarding the terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed, it is expected that Gordon agreed to a contract at the veteran minimum due to the Suns’ current financial situation.

The 34-year-old shooting guard was in high demand during this offseason, as reported by Charania. Despite receiving more lucrative offers from other teams, Gordon ultimately made the decision to sign with the Suns. The Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets were among the teams that Gordon considered, as mentioned by Kelly Iko from The Athletic. Gordon’s transfer from the Rockets to the Clippers during the previous season deserves attention.

Joining forces with the likes of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the recently acquired Bradley Beal, Gordon will become part of an impressive ensemble of stars on the Suns’ roster. As Booker and Beal are expected to assume starting roles, Gordon will likely embrace a reserve position in Phoenix’s pursuit of a championship title. With his reliable 3-point shooting skills, as demonstrated by his 42.3 percent shooting percentage in 22 games with the Clippers and a career average of 37.1 percent, Gordon adds another dimension to the team’s offensive firepower.

Throughout the season, Gordon showcased his abilities by averaging 12.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game in 69 appearances, including 58 starts. Following the Clippers’ decision not to guarantee his $21 million contract, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Gordon entered free agency.
